The Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court on Thursday May 30, 2024 held its quarterly District Chain-linked Committee to improve communication, coordination and cooperation of justice actors within the magisterial area.

The meeting was chaired by Buganda Road Chief Magistrate, HW Ronald Kayizzi, who noted that the leadership of the Court has employed multi-pronged efforts to get rid of bush lawyers and that they are on course.

He noted that Standards, Utilities and Wildlife Court would soon move and as such create more space thereby minimizing on congestion.

The Chief Magistrate stressed the need to have regular meetings on a rotational basis to improve coordination of stakeholders.

Among the issues deliberated upon was the need to have proper records management practices in place to ease follow up and retrieval.

Mr Ntabuse Joe, the Officer in Charge of the Criminal Investigations Department at the Kampala Central Police Station, said they are moving to streamline the management of exhibits recovered during arrest of street vendors.

The Chief Magistrates asked Police to always identify and separate juveniles from adults before producing them in court.

In attendance were Judicial Officers of the Court, representatives from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Uganda Prisons Services and the advocates.
